It was brought under control only by 5 am by 35 fire engines, and doused completely by 7 am, according to NDTV.

The fire broke out around 1.45 a.m on the top floor of the museum, located in FICCI Building in Mandi House, where some fix work was underway.

A massive fire broke out at the The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Auditorium building in Central Delhi during the early hours of Tuesday.

It is not yet clear what caused the fire at the 38-year-old museum in the heart of the city.

Top officials of the police range and Delhi Fire Services rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Singh says five firefighters overcome by a heavy smoke were taken to a hospital and released after being treated. No other injuries were reported. Since the building being renovated, there were not many people in it and all were safely evacuated by the time the fire brigade arrived.

Fires are common in buildings in India due to a lack of proper safety standards. The museum houses rare collections of plants, animals and minerals. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
