The father of the victim, Eric Warfel was taken into custody later that morning at Crocker Park in Westlake, the report states.
A father is in police custody after his child’s badly decomposed body was found in a Medina apartment building on Wednesday, according to police. Police masking tape remnants round the kitchen door of the place.
Police identified the child as Ember Warfel, who was born in October 2013.
“I’m a mother, a human, and God created us for love”.
Berarducci said the body was found in the crib and there wasn’t any bedding. “We thought it was cooking, tried to deal with it with incense”.
The date of his appearance remains undisclosed. A coroner on the scene estimated that the child had been dead for up to six weeks.
Warfel is charged with abuse of a corpse, a felony of the fifth degree, but Beraducci says more charges are pending. The 7-year-old is being cared for by her grandparents.
He said the police had been in contact with Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman’s office to discuss what resources might be needed to pursue details needed in the case and that Holman offered to help “with whatever we need”.
