Jets’ Muhammad Wilkerson to report for camp
Jets quarterback Geno Smith did not appreciate an ESPN poll of league executives and coaches that ranked him dead last among projected starting NFL quarterbacks.

Muhammad Wilkerson will report to camp as he continues to seek an extension from the New York Jets. “It’s hilarious. It is”. Unless Todd Bowles was the anonymous coach taking a club to Smith’s reputation on ESPN.com, there’s really nothing he has to worry about. And with Ryan Fitzpatrick as Smith’s backup this season, a quarterback who posted a 95.3 quarterback rating last year, it’s not inconceivable to predict that Smith could lose his job to Fitzpatrick at some point in the season.
Not only was the Jets QB ranked as the worst quarterback in football, but he was listed last on the very same poll a year ago.
If that’s the case, Smith might not even qualify for the list next summer. Unlike Idzik, who talked a good game about fostering competition but did little to actually create it, Maccagnan also bolstered the Jets’ depth at the position by signing free agent Buster Skrine. “No matter what they rate, wherever we finish at the end of the year is most important”.

“I just think I’ve been improving overall”, he said. He and several of the team’s skill players, including Marshall and Eric Decker, got together with Smith to work out during the offseason to bond and get a better feel for the offense – and each other. DT Sheldon Richardson, suspended the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, also was in attendance but won’t be made available to reporters until Thursday.
