DEA sets date for 2015 Drug Take-Back event
Kadzik, Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice, wrote, “Having considered your letter, DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg announced on July 13, 2015, that DEA has decided to restart this successful initiative”.

According to the DEA, many Americans are not aware that medicines that remain in the home are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. “Do I think it’s as risky as heroin?”
The statements, made on a morning conference call, were far from an endorsement of marijuana, which four states allow for recreational use and many others do for medical purposes. “Probably not. I’m not an expert”.
“This is not a matter of opinion”, Dan Riffle, director of federal policies at the pro-legalization Marijuana Policy Project, told US News.
“The safe and proper disposal of unwanted medications is critical to preventing prescription drugs from ending up in the wrong hands”, said Senator Capito.
Rosenberg’s expected to be less vitriolic. A recent article by The Daily Beast summarized the dilemma pretty accurately; when it comes to law enforcement “actions speak louder than words”.
“If you want me to say that marijuana’s not unsafe, I’m not going to say that because I think it is”, Rosenberg said.
In the U.S., prescription drug abuse numbers are high, as are the number of accidental poisonings.
While clearly not all undocumented immigrants are rapists or bringing drugs into the U.S., there has been an increase in heroin coming across the border. It’s hard to tell, but many already believe that Rosenberg is a big departure from his rigid predecessor.

Senator Capito said the program has been very successful in West Virginia and plays a significant role in combating the drug crisis. But if this materializes in the future is yet to be seen.
