Windows 10’s bundled Solitaire includes advertisements
Solitaire has been part of the Windows experience for as long as I can remember, and it has been 100 percent free throughout that entire time. Regardless of what one says about the game, we have all spent hours trying to master it.

$1.49 is a minimal price, compared to what users pay for premium game services, but with so many other Solitaire games available online, Microsoft’s pay-for-Solitaire policy raises questions about why users should choose Redmond’s version of the game. However, Microsoft gives Solitaire a prominent position in Windows 10, while Windows 8 users had the option of downloading the game from the Windows Store. The game is being rolled out along with a new version of FreeCell, in a bundle named “Microsoft Solitaire Collection“. We were all impressed by Windows 10, but then you have to go and ruin our honeymoon with the news that you’ve actually placed microtransactions in Solitaire, that once-free, beloved game that came pre-installed in older editions of your operating system. Furthermore, you get coins, and a special boost.
The virtual card game will still be playable in Windows 10, though non-premium members will be forced to sit through full-screen video advertisements every now and again.
Solitaire was a staple on Microsoft operating systems from Windows 3.0 until Windows 7. “Along with our partners, we’re excited to deliver the best Windows ever, which will empower people and organisations around the world to do great things”.

In-app purchases are common in mobile games. While the payments only help you get rid of the advertisement, it still comes down as nothing short of a weird move to many.
