NY judge rejects Cosby’s request to get journalists’ notes
The defense team insisted the prosecutor filed the new sexual assault charge against Cosby partly because of the leaked statements he made in a 2006 deposition, in which he confessed to obtaining sedatives to give to women he wanted to have sex with.

A date has been set for the preliminary hearing in the sexual assault case against Bill Cosby. Huth, now in her 50s, sued Cosby in December 2014, alleging that he plied her with alcohol and molested her during an encounter at the Playboy Mansion in 1974.
Cosby has been accused of rape or sexual assault by dozens of women, many of whom claim he drugged them beforehand. Cosby’s former attorney has accused Huth’s former lawyer of attempting to extort Cosby for $250,000 before filing her lawsuit. The article featured 35 women who described being sexually assaulted by the comedian. “The subpoena, in my judgment, is a fishing expedition”, he said in court. Cosby has denied wrongdoing.
But a Montgomery County judge rejected that motion, and on Monday an appeals court likewise ruled that the criminal sex-assault case against Cosby can proceed. In New York, a federal judge ruled against Cosby’s effort to compel the publisher of New York magazine to provide access to unedited interviews of six women who are suing him over separate abuse allegations. Numerous lawsuits have been filed against the comedian.
In March, Cosby asked Gardephe to compel New York Media to comply with a subpoena seeking the full interviews and other unpublished material for its July 2015 cover story, “I’m No Longer Afraid”.
Court officials, as they have done for previous hearings involving Cosby, are expected to issue a decorum order for members of the media and spectators who attend the hearing.
