Nintendo NX launching March 2017, don’t expect any news at E3
We’ve known that Nintendo is planning a new NX console for awhile now, but today, the company officially gave us a release date of March 2017.

“NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year”, reads Nintendo’s statement. Nintendo will stop manufacturing the console at the end of the year. According to translation from The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo will focus primarily on the new Zelda at E3, while the NX will be absent from the show.
In the context of recent financial report from Nintendo, it is confirmed that the next installment of Legend of Zelda Wii U is also expected to land on Nintendo NX. It was also announced that the next “Legend of Zelda” game will be released for the NX in 2017.
Nintendo is clearly looking for a new gaming console, as the company’s latest earning report revealed a drop in profit.
Nintendo said: “For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is now developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept”.
Other than any unannounced games, all Nintendo have for this year is Pokémon Sun/Moon for Nintendo 3DS, as well as Kirby: Planet Robobot and Metroid Prime: Federation Force, all of which are for 3DS.

Nintendo has announced a new console to replace the wildly disappointing Wii U. Third-party game developers are also focusing more on Microsoft’s and Sony’s platforms, as well as the PC. “The global sales of the Wii U hardware and software reached 3.26 million and 27.36 million units respectively”. It’s unfortunate as many bought a Wii U exclusively for Zelda, but not a decision that was overall that surprising.
