‘Alien: Covenant’ First Look Picture: Ridley Scott’s Sequel Image Shows Crew Badge

As with any holiday, everyone celebrated Alien Day in their own special way.
As part of Tuesday’s “Alien” Day celebration, we’re treated to the first image from director Ridley Scott’s “Alien: Covenant”.
Though there was nothing too revealing in the picture, it definitely excited followers as the official crew patch for those on the ship was shown. It was originally meant to be Prometheus 2 while Neill Blomkamp was working on his own Alien 5, before they became separate projects (although Alien 5 is still very much alive according to Sigourney Weaver). But it does confirm the interesting detail that the Weyland Corp, seen in Prometheus, will have undergone a merger to become Weyland-Yutani by the events of Alien: Covenant.

Ridley Scott will return to helm the upcoming flick as he directed both Prometheus and Alien. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. Which totally works – as Michael Fassbender’s David is the only returning character, there’s really no need to worry about ageing characters (unless Noomi Rapace is actualy returning). When the crew thinks it found uncharted land, it will discover that it’s a dark and unsafe world, whose only inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, the survivor of the Prometheus expedition.
