Remains of the music icon Prince have been quietly cremated amidst the mourning of his fans and the rest of the world on Friday.

Prince has been laid to rest at a private service attended by family and close friends, while a public celebration of his life is being planned for a future date.

Prince’s sister says the superstar musician had no known will and she’s filed paperwork asking a Minneapolis court appoint a special administrator to oversee his estate.

A version of this article appears in print on April 25, 2016 of The Himalayan Times. Prince had been on a U.S. tour as recently as last week.

The investigation is expected to closely examine Prince’s medical history, including the circumstances surrounding an emergency landing that his private jet made on the way back from his performances in Atlanta on April 14. The results of his autopsy are yet to be announced.

The revelation comes despite claims the 57-year-old musician was hooked on sleep-inducing painkillers.

“We will turn Paisley Park into a museum in Prince’s memory”, Maurice Phillips, husband of Prince’s sister Tyka, told The Sun. A spokesperson for the Carver County Sheriff says they are unlikely to release a preliminary cause of death until then, saying there’d be nothing worse than to get it wrong.

The Purple Rain legend passed away at his Paisley Park studios in Minnesota on Thursday (21Apr16), but multiple sources reveal to TMZ.com the singer never left instructions about how he wanted his fortune to be divided after his death.

Police refused to rule out homicide in the case, and those who supplied Prince with drugs could potentially face murder charges if it’s found that the singer was enabled and given enough prescription drugs to kill him.

Sheila E. has told the AP that Prince had physical issues from performing, citing hip and knee problems that she said came from years of jumping off risers and stage speakers in heels.
