First, HBO will air a behind-the-scenes documentary featuring a novel look at how the Innocence and Experience tour was conceptualized.

A week earlier, on November. 7, HBO will premiere a behind-the-scenes documentary special that follows the band as it conceived and developed the current tour, which began in May and runs through the end of November. Both the documentary and the concert will be available on HBO GO and HBO NOW simultaneous to the programs’ world premieres on HBO.

“U2 continues to take risks, which has made them one of the most consistently exciting forces in rock’n’roll”, Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming, said in a statement. That’s the second-to-last show of the tour.

HBO and U2 are collaborating on a double-barreled special about the veteran Irish rock band’s current world tour. It will also explore Bono’s serious bike accident from last year (but will it cover the time the Edge fell off the stage?).

The show includes music from throughout the band’s career from classics like “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Pride (In the Name of Love)” to tracks from their most recent album “Songs of Innocence“, which was distributed for free through iTunes.

U2 have had plenty of film experience, with their own projects and writing and recording songs for movies.

The concert will be produced by Done And Dusted with executive producers Hamish Hamilton, Simon Pizey, Davis Guggenheim and Guy Oseary. Hamilton, who has worked with U2 on collaborations including “Elevation: Live from Boston“, “U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle”, the “Beautiful Day” documentary, and “Vertigo in 2005: Live from Chicago“, will also direct the special.
