Trump sweeps, Clinton takes 3 states
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump notched a primary victory in Rhode Island on Tuesday, continuing his winning streak in the Northeast. Voters will head to the polls in five states – Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Delaware and CT.

“Frankly if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 percent of the vote”, he said.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks during a campaign stop, Monday, April 25, 2016, in Wilmington, Del.
It’s already impossible for John Kasich to win the 1,237 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination outright, and after Tuesday, it’s likely to be impossible for Cruz as well.
But it failed to prevent Mr Trump’s big showing in the north-east, where he won at least 105 of the 118 available delegates. On Tuesday he said about the primary race: “As far as I’m concerned it’s over”. Mr. Cruz may have been able at one point to (and it looked like he was trying) be the candidate Trump supporters could rally around in the event he was not the nominee.
The Democratic convention will be held in Philadelphia in July and that is where Clinton spoke Tuesday night.
That means she is 90 percent of the way to the 2,383 delegates she needs to clinch the Democratic nomination.
With Tuesday’s sweep, Trump remains on his narrow path to win the Republican nomination by the end of the primaries on June 7.
“They have no path to the nomination”, he said.
Mrs Clinton urged Mr Sanders’s supporters to help her unify the Democratic Party and reached out to Republican voters who may be unhappy with their party’s options. Cruz campaigned in IN, and avoided discussing his loss on Tuesday. While speaking to co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Trump said he planned on stealing some of Sanders’ recent anti-Clinton talking points during his time on the campaign trail. Among other issues, the former Secretary of State touched on creating jobs for the middle class, raising the minimum wage, women’s rights and equal pay. He did not specify how many people are being let go or what percentage of Sanderss sprawling staff they represent. Its something weve been talking about for quite a while now, Briggs said.
That’s according to exit polls conducted for The Associated Press and television networks by Edison Research.
