Westbrook, Oklahoma City finish off Mavericks

Oklahoma City will face another Texas team – San Antonio – in the second round of the NBA Western Conference playoffs after the Thunder dispatched Dallas in five games.

Cuban continued giving his example using long-time Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki as a frame of reference: “Russ is certainly an all star, but I consider Durant a superstar”. The way Westbrook has played this season so far has been nothing short of incredible, and at the same time I think we all remember how he played a year ago when KD was out for the season.

Dwight Powell scored 16 points, Justin Anderson had 14 points and Zaza Pachulia added 12 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds for the Mavericks, who were hampered by injuries throughout the series. While it’s entirely possible that he would’ve gone off without the comments, it seemed like Westbrook had an extra fire in his eyes all night long.

After his team’s 118-104 victory, Westbrook nodded when asked if he heard about Cuban’s comments.

Meanwhile, Bayless’ sparring partner Stephen A. Smith said he wouldn’t call Cuban an idiot himself, be he’s fine if Durant does.

The Spurs and Thunder started the playoffs seeded No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. He’s averaged 23.5 points, 10.4 assists and 7.8 rebounds this season. Cuban said. “Who do you know that can get off that shot and make that shot?”

Cuban’s take is questionable, even though he said he “didn’t think it was all the hot (of a take)”, but it really comes down to his definition of a superstar.

Westbrook’s point about Villanueva not playing is pretty accurate, too.

The Thunder move on to the Western Conference semifinals to take on the San Antonio Spurs, fresh off a series sweep over the Memphis Grizzlies. He can go right. His team is not as good as the Thunder and he just wants to take a jab at OKC by saying they are not that good.

“He’s probably the best offensive rebounding guard this league has ever seen”. The only game he didn’t score at least 20 points was in Game 2, when he posted 19 points in the Thunder’s only loss of the series. A delighted Westbrook said of his detractor after giving his side a telling blow on the court.
