RED SOX 11, BRAVES 4: In Atlanta, David Price matched his career high with 14 strikeouts and Travis Shaw homered and drove in five runs for Boston as the Braves’ staggering home-run drought reached 15 games. Kris Bryant, who had moved to left field after Baez remained in the game following his pinch-hit appearance, ran that ball down on the warning track, probably the longest ball the Brewers hit all night.
The Cubs have had no rainouts or weather delays this season, but that could change Wednesday night with rain in the forecast.
Miami Marlins’ Ichiro Suzuki, left, of Japan talks with Los Angeles Dodgers’ Kenta Maeda, of Japan, prior to a baseball game in Los Angeles, Monday, April 25, 2016.
“I think it’s amusing because I’ve always been in good shape”, the 30-year-old confirmed health nut said.
“I have to get to the point where I’m just competing, be aggressive and go after guys”.
Wearing short sleeves on a 45-degree cloudy day with a 12 miles per hour wind at his back, Arrieta had no command early. “That’s never been me, but it’s obvious when you watch the game”.
The Brewers went on to load the bases on walks to Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy but instead of folding, Arrieta buckled down and struck out Chris Carter and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
Jake Arrieta (4-0, 0.87 ERA) had to wait a day for his chance to match Johnny Vander Meer. After singling, he scored from first on a double by Anthony Rizzo. “We were fortunate to only give up seven runs”.
“He’s not throwing enough strikes”, manager Craig Counsell said. Chicago C Miguel Montero was a late scratch from the starting lineup, suffering from back stiffness. Arrieta is 20-1 with a 0.86 ERA while notching 24 straight regular-season quality starts.
