With one out, he walked Gregory Polanco.

Rockies: OF Charlie Blackmon (turf toe) is scheduled to play seven innings Tuesday and a full game Wednesday for Class A Modesto.
Colorado had a chance in the bottom of the 12th when DJ LeMahieu and Tony Wolters reached on walks. His only rough patch was in the fifth when he faced a two-on, one-out jam. He fanned rookie Trevor Story and got Carlos Gonzalez to fly out. The other was August 1, 2009, against the Washington Nationals. The Rockies rallied from a 7-0 deficit and Gerardo Parra hit a solo home run in the eighth to knot the score at 8-8.
Polanco drove Justin Miller’s 3-1 fastball over the wall in center with two outs in the seventh.
Polanco’s seventh-inning blast put the Pirates ahead 8-5. He gave up four runs in three innings before appearing to tweak his left groin while running out a ground ball in the third. The visitors built a seven-run lead, then lost it entirely and endured extra innings. Eddie Butler, brought up from Triple-A Albuquerque earlier in the day, relieved Gray and gave up an infield single followed by Francisco Cervelli’s two-run double that made it 7-0.
Colorado’s bats woke up in Colorado’s four-run fourth inning, thanks to the developing home run derby between Story and Arenado.
Rockies right-hander Jon Gray, the third overall draft pick in 2013, lasted just 3 2/3 innings and threw 96 pitches.
Gray left in the fourth after giving up a two-out, run-scoring double to David Freese. He was roughed up for six hits, including the Story and Arenado home runs, walked two and struck out five. McCutchen’s was on a checked swing, with the ball rolling through the right side. 133 for the season with runners in scoring position.
NOTES: The Rockies’ starters have a 9.90 ERA (22 earned runs, 20 innings) in the past five games…. The Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder came into the game with only three hits on the season and even sat out last night, something you don’t often see hitters of his caliber do when coming to Coors Field. That’s the second most by a rookie through the end of April ever, behind only Jose Abreu.
It was another less-than-stellar outing for starter Jorge De La Rosa (1-3), who struggled with his command after fighting off the stomach flu that forced the Rockies to move his start back a day.
Pirates: RHP Juan Nicasio (2-2) will make his second start against his former team. He will be in the bullpen as a long reliever initially but could replace De La Rosa when his turn in the rotation comes up Sunday at Arizona…. It is the second time Kang has played in back-to-back games since starting his rehab assignment April 17. Rockies LHP Tyler Matzek (anxiety) will throw batting practice for the first time Friday in extended spring training in Scottsdale, Ariz….

It was the second time in four games the Pirates won in extra innings after blowing a late lead.
