Businesses in the Green Bay area are eagerly anticipating today’s start of Packers training camp.

“We’re not counting throws all the time, and it’s not a concern as it will be when he’s later in his career”, coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday, via ESPN.com. All 11 starters, plus most of the top reserves, are back, led by MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The throng of green-and-gold fans who showed up early in the morning to get in line for good seats rejoiced that Pro Bowl receiver Jordy Nelson was cleared for full participation. The main contributors can get right down to focusing on the task of making an offense that scored a league-high 30.4 points per game perform even better.

There were a few questions as to Nelson’s status after he missed the offseason program because of hip surgery. After all, they took the No. 1 snaps during OTAs and minicamp, as well.

“We’re right where we want to be”, Nelson said last month.

“Over years and years of playing sports, it’s just rubbing together”, Nelson said. “We set a plan at the beginning and we’re hitting every target”. It was never a bother on game days, Nelson said.

“Whenever they (trainers) feel like I’m ready to go, then that’s when I’ll be ready to go”, Rollins said. Rodgers joked. “Yeah, Jordy’s a stud”. Outside linebacker Mike Neal, running back John Crockett, and receiver Ricky Collins failed their physicals yesterday.

Starting tight end Andrew Quarless missed practice. Neal was known to be a frequent flyer in the training room when he was still a member of the defensive line but has largely stayed healthy since dropping weight to become a stand-up rush linebacker.

Quinten Rollins, the team’s second-round draft pick this year, suffered an injury to his right hamstring in a conditioning workout a couple weeks ago.

Cornerback Casey Hayward also practiced Thursday after missing time in the offseason with a foot injury.

“I’m not quite sure what they’re looking at”, McCarthy said of the medical staff’s initial evaluation.
