Ohio State’s Elliott to Cowboys at No. 4

And it’s no secret that they have developed a strong affinity for Ohio State Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott was the best running back in the NFL Draft – and possibly the best player – and he gets the chance to play behind arguably the best offensive line in the league.

This is where Elliott joins the puzzle, as he comes from already playing behind a great offensive line with the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Conference. “Elliott has rare combination of size, athleticism, pass-catching, and blocking skills and his competitive nature is always bubbling on the surface”. He averaged 6.7 yards per carry. “But there are a lot of battle-tested running backs in that room”.

If you read any of my pre-draft coverage, I was all for the Cowboys going defense in the first two rounds, then concentrating on the offense, including running back, but that’s not going to happen.

Overall, I’m holding out the hope that in a few hours time when the Dallas Cowboys are finally on the clock that I don’t see a draft card turned in with Jalen Ramsey’s name on it. In free agency, the Cowboys signed Alfred Morris, who had three 1,000-yard seasons in the first four years of his career with the Washington Redskins, to a two-year deal.

“It would be an honor for any running back to go run behind them”, Elliott said Wednesday from the draft.

The question is whether a top-five pick was too high to use on a running back, even one with Elliott’s ability, considering the diminished value of the position in the modern game.

Ezekiel Elliott stole the show on the NFL Draft red carpet with a bold suit selection Thursday evening in Chicago. If the Cowboys are sold on Elliott, there’s a chance they trade down to pluck him in the 5-10 range, leaving them with more later-round picks to play with.

So does Elliott have any shirts that go all the way to his waist?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve done as much research on these three prospects as possible and should have a pretty good idea of each player strengths and weaknesses.
