Tornado, 90 miles per hour Winds Confirmed From Night Storms

One thing that could potentially keep you and your family safe when severe weather strikes is a weather radio. But he says it will be another night of active weather to the south.

Downpours accompanied the storms that developed Wednesday from the same system that brought rain Tuesday.

Emergency managers received multiple reports of downed power lines, roof damage and debris on roadways overnight Tuesday. But just how do they measure storm strength after the storm is over?

“We are very lucky”, Tharp said.

The National Weather Service is the official issuer of a watch or a warning, based on expected weather conditions.

“Everyone should have a place in their home that they’ve pre identified for taking shelter and practice that with their family”, said Jim Comerford, Monroe Co.

Emergency Management Specialist Mark Enright says, “We’ll set off the sirens, and the sirens going off should prompt people”.

Five new outdoor warning sirens have been installed in Madison County since April 27, 2011.
