Everyone Gets Free Tree at Rochester Hills Arbor Day Event
The Urban Forester recommends a community to the Arbor Day Foundation for this standing. The citizens of Nebraska answered the challenge by planting more than 1 million trees that first Arbor Day.

Nash County Ranger Bill Lewis of the N.C. Forest Service presented the city of Rocky Mount with the Tree City USA and Tree Line USA awards during the City Council meeting on April 25. City Department of Public Works crews are also planting 100 trees this week at locations throughout the city.
The idea for Arbor Day in the United States originated in Nebraska City, Nebraska. “The trees we plant and care for today will cool our cities, fight pollution, conserve energy, and give wildlife a home for years to come”, John Rosenow, The National Arbor Day Foundations’ Executive Director said.
National Arbor Day is observed each year on the last Friday in April.
The Mansfield Shade Tree Commission held its annual Arbor Day assembly Thursday, starting with instruction on the importance of trees to our environment.
Students will learn how to plant trees and how to care for them. Tree City U.S.A. communities receive a flag with the program’s logo and a walnut-mounted plaque.
The cost for the tree seedlings is paid by the cooperative, so there is no cost to the students, teachers, schools or the taxpayers.
The East Brunswick Woman’s Club will donate a tree to be planted at Heavenly Farms.
“The parcel is right next to WMU property, so the University will maintain the trees as part of its routine grounds duties”, Junkins says.

The City of Zanesville was recognized as a “Tree City USA” on Wednesday, April 20th at the Southeast Ohio Awards Ceremony.
