Dortmund confirm Hummels has asked to join Bayern Munich
The Dortmund statement said: “Defender Mats Hummels has communicated his desire to leave the club in the summer and wants to join league rivals Bayern Munich for next season”.

Now, Dortmund have ratified the rumours, although they added that Bayern are yet to lodge an official bid for the 27-year-old’s services.
Mats Hummels has told Borussia Dortmund he wants to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, a statement on the official BVB website has confirmed.
In recent years, the club has seen the likes of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski depart to the Bavarian giants.
Unsurprisingly, Hummels has attracted an bad lot of grief from Dortmund fans who are distraught at seeing yet another intrinsic member of their team up sticks and leave for Bayern.
In fact, they’ve said only “an extremely valuable offer” will be enough for Bayern to snap up the centre-back.
The German side also confirmed that the defender has no release clause.
Manchester United and Liverpool may be frustrated to have missed their chance to sign Hummels, who had been linked with a move to either Premier League club by The Mirror.
He spent 14 years in the club’s academy and made one senior appearance before moving to Dortmund in 2009.

Earlier this week, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge disclosed that his club were already in talks with the Dortmund skipper over a move.
