One RNC official from a Western state laughed off Manafort’s pitch telling The Daily Caller in disbelief that the Trump camp basically said “they really did understand the rules and they weren’t here to learn about them from us”.
Cruz has been telling Republican movers and shakers that he is the only person who can save the party from the debacle that would be a Trump general election candidacy.
“I just don’t know if I want to do it yet”, the candidate said.
Across the US, ranking members of the Republican party are reporting threats from angry Trump supporters over delegates “stolen” from the candidate.
The fight between Trump and Cruz for the GOP nod is taking a brief foray to a luxury seaside resort in South Florida as the candidates quietly court party leaders ahead of another set of high-stakes delegate contests.
He went on to say he would allow Caitlyn Jenner to use any restroom she chose in Trump Tower.
Ted Cruz said, “How many of y’all here are exhausted of politicians lying to us?”
The comments came as Trump drew closer to clinching the Republican nomination with a big win in his home state of NY earlier this week. His campaign team thinks that he might not be nominated for the post which would leave Ohio Governor John Kasich and Ted Cruz to go head to head.
Cruz’s best argument to anyone disposed to support Trump over him consists of the polls that show him getting a thumping at the hands of Hillary Clinton in November.
Appearing on NBC’s The Today Show, Trump said that he’s opposed to House Bill 2, which, among other things, prohibits transgender people from using the bathroom of their choice.
“At some point, I’m going to be so presidential that you people will be so bored, and I’ll come back as a presidential person and instead of 10,000 people, I’ll have about 150 people”, he said.
“He’s willing to spend what is necessary to finish this out”. It is also not clear whether Trump will follow the advice of his aides and change his style.
Meanwhile, the state’s Republican Gov. Pat McCrory defended the law in a statement from his re-election campaign, blaming the Charlotte city council for passing an “unneeded and overreaching ordinance”.
Manafort also insisted that Trump is prepared to work closely with party leaders, despite the candidate’s near-daily public attacks on what he calls “a rigged” presidential nomination system.
