Goff taken with first pick of draft

The Rams relocated from St Louis in the off-season and then traded with the Tennessee Titans to secure the top pick in a bid to address their quarterback problem, giving up six picks across the top three rounds this year and next.

After the Rams took Goff, Wentz was selected No. 2 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, who had acquired the pick in a trade with the Cleveland Browns earlier this month.

The 21-year-old Goff, who stands 1.93m with a strong arm and is mobile in the pocket, was a three-year starter at University of California, Berkeley, and last season set Pac-12 conference records for passing yards and touchdowns.

Now that the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft is in the books, it’s time to try to make sense of everything that went down from the moment the Los Angeles Rams took Jared Goff until the Carolina Panthers took Germain Ifedi.

“It’s a good spot for me and for my family to come watch games”, Goff said. “I’m ready to go”.

After acquiring Sam Bradford in 2010, the Rams used the precious No. 1 pick to draft a QB for the second time in seven years.

The net haul was a third-round and a fourth-round pick from the Eagles this year, a third round pick from the Titans this year, a first-round pick from Philadelphia next season, a second-round pick from the Titans next year and a second-round pick from the Eagles in 2018.

The Rams traded multiple draft picks to get to the top of the first round. For the Dallas Cowboys pick, Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliot is the man. Corner back Jalen Ramsey was picked by the Jaguars. Once one of the leading candidates for the No. 1 pick before the trades, he slipped to Miami at No. 13 after a video posted to his Twitter account Thursday night showed someone apparently smoking marijuana out of a bong-gas mask contraption.

Wentz becomes the first No. 2 pick by the Eagles since McNabb in 1999, and the team plans to begin Wentz on the bench just as McNabb sat behind Doug Pederson at the start of McNabb’s rookie season. The New York Giants rounded out the top 10 by snagging cornerback Eli Apple. Tunsil said at the draft that the account was hacked. “And every single game if the Eagles lose, the head coach and the quarterback are going to hear about it on talk radio, hear about it from the fans”. Now that the process is over, the team can get to work with the young franchise player.

The 6-foot-5 Wentz led the Bison to their fifth consecutive FCS title last season.

After picking Bradford in the draft, the Rams as reported by Gary Klein would trade Bradford to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 for Nick Foles together with an extra second round pick.
