Other players must do Fabregas’ defensive work – Hiddink

Asmir Begovic has been at Chelsea for less than a year, but he’s well aware of the importance Chelsea fans are placing on next Monday’s game against Spurs.

Hazard, meanwhile, has looked a shadow of the player described by Jose Mourinho as “the best young player in the world” last term, and scored his first Premier League goals in 356 days in Chelsea’s convincing 4-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Guus Hiddink believes Eden Hazard is enjoying football once again following his disappointing year, insisting the Belgian is happy to stay at Chelsea next season. As quoted by The Guardian, he told reporters after the tenth victory of his second Chelsea spell; “I don’t know exactly but he has some more years to go [on his contract]”.

Something that was made very clear throughout the game was the fans’ desire to play a major role in this season’s title race. According to their sources, Hazard’s entourage are holding talks with long-term admirers PSG. “Now he can go on for the whole season”, the temporary boss said.

Hiddink was happy with a much-improved display at Bournemouth with the much maligned figures of Fabregas and Hazard starring.

“It’s been a very bad season for him, we don’t like to neglect the facts”.

The Blues attacked with goal and players such as Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas stepped up their performances to the level that is expected of them, something that has been a rarity in what has been a forgettable season for the London outfit. Hazard was returning from a hip injury that has seen him miss the last five games and appeared to be in fine health causing the Cherries defence plenty of problems. I think this season he had a hard season, falling into injuries, coming back, almost getting back then getting injured again. When he is there fully fit physically and mentally – which is always an influence on each other – then he is one of the best. “I think they have a bright future ahead of them”, he added.

He said: “Yes, he can regain the Player of the Year”.

Hiddink will make way for Antonio Conte this summer and knows that the club can not afford a repeat of the shambolic pre-season and sluggish start that blighted this campaign.
