“I have asked Hermes to debaptize the Birkin Croco”, she says.

Birkin said she’d agreed player Joaquin Phoenix’s Mercy For Animals plead to “trim down extraordinary skin from personal outfit collection” in insist contrary to the “an incredible number of exotic pets murdered per year and became situation, purses, straps together with other add-ons”.

The statement continues to say that an investigation is underway at the Texas farm where the video was taken. Any breach of rules will be rectified and sanctioned.

Hermes said it imposed on its suppliers the highest ethical standards regarding the treatment of crocodiles and for more than a decade, had conducted monthly checks on them to ensure that they were respected.

Hermès said on Wednesday that it was also shocked by the PETA video and that an investigation at the Texas farm is under way.

They are the very definition of exclusive, so until now, Mrs. Birkin was thrilled to have her name so closely linked to the Hermes one. However, it’s hard to believe that the same people who would pay a fortune and wait for at least 2 years to get their hands on one such luxury item would suddenly develop a heart and a conscience, and stop buying them. A fuchsia Hermes crocodile Birkin bag with a diamond-studded clasp and lock set a record as the most expensive handbag ever sold at a Christie’s auction in Hong Kong last month, fetching €200,500.
