Ted Cruz names Carly Fiorina as VP pick
I have figured out why Ted Cruz picked Carly Fiorina as a running mate.

With Donald Trump running swiftly toward the nomination, his closest rival, Senator Ted Cruz, tried to grab the spotlight by naming his vice-presidential nominee, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
“Last night was Donald Trump’s night”, Cruz said Wednesday while campaigning in Indianapolis. The former HP executive endorsed Cruz after dropping out of the race in February, saying that he was the only candidate with the potential to beat Trump.
Fiorina arrived on stage and talked about challenging the status quo, something she considers necessary to bringing change in Washington.
Her campaign never took off in the original, crowded 17-member Republican presidential field, and she was mostly relegated to the early second-tier debates for low-polling candidates. You do more than rock the boat. “Ted Cruz could not be more right when he says there is a lot at stake. He had a good week in the northeast, where he lives and Donald’s very anxious because this race shifted to much more favorable terrain”, Cruz told reporters in Fort Wayne on Thursday. I think that it’s not going to help him at all’. With four victories Tuesday, she now has 91 percent of the delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination.
“With Iowa and Wisconsin, it was kind of a slow build of steady momentum, and then kind of a break at the end”, said Bob Vander Plaats, president of The Family Leader and Cruz’s national co-chair.
To appeal to voters in central Indiana, Cruz has also adopted a Trump talking point, highlighting Indianapolis air-conditioning manufacturer Carrier’s decision to shift its jobs to Mexico. Despite her compelling personal story-she was the first woman to lead a Fortune 20 company, she has survived cancer, and she lost a stepchild to drug addiction-Fiorina failed to convince many voters that her background best prepared her to be commander-in-chief.
And, she insisted that Trump won’t fight the system, because he “is the system”.
The GOP businessman and front-runner said similar things at a rally in Indianapolis after the town hall had taped.
She predicted that Trump would be “shellacked by Hillary Clinton” if he is the nominee, but asserted that he could lose the nomination if he doesn’t get the majority. “She’ll lob grenades at Trump on an hourly basis while Cruz gets to act presidential”.
Candidates typically wait until they’ve secured their party’s nomination before picking a running mate, in part to avoid appearing to be getting ahead of the will of the voters. Heading into the contested 1976 Republican convention, Ronald Ronald announced his running mate would be a US Senator Richard Schweiker of Pennsylvania. By Wednesday, he had switched his allegiance and could be found cheering on Trump at the fairgrounds.
However, Cruz supporters know that depends on his success next week in the winner-take-all state of Indiana. “She’s run away from California”, Boxer said.

And because of the way delegates are chosen in the Golden State – from each congressional district – Cruz has a chance to peel off delegates that might have gone to Trump.
