The Delhi Police crime branch busted the racket on Thursday after receiving a tip-off about the suspects, of whom one is a second-year student.

During which they disclosed that Sunil Panwar, the gang leader and Juber used to procure the candidates who could not get admissions in Delhi University in a course of their choice as they could not meet the cut off criteria.
Hindu College principal Anju Srivastava told IANS that while there was no official communication with the authorised agencies, if proven, “most proactive action” would be taken against those securing admission through fake means.
Mr Yadav said that acting on a tip-off that three persons involved in getting students admitted to prestigious colleges of DU’s South and North campuses using fake documents would come to main market in Malviya Nagar in a Maruti Ertiga, a team of Delhi police sleuths was constituted and a trap was laid.
“They also prepared fake degrees of various universities for the candidates who were seeking jobs in private sector”. “The other colleges where the gang obtained seats for their clients are Dayal Singh College, Ram Lal Anand College, DAV College, Kamla Nehru College and others”, said Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Yadav.
A computer, printers and stamps of different schools and education boards were also recovered. To evade detection of the forged documents, they had even created fake websites of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar Boards.
DU authorities said several cases of alleged fake admissions were reported to the varsity after it asked colleges to admit fresh batch of undergraduate students.
When contacted, Hindu College principal Anju said, “We have not got any information from the police about any fake admissions”.
The admission process this year is still under way and almost 70,000 students have enrolled themselves so far.
“A total of 10 admissions were done in the Bhagat Singh College on the basis of forged academic certificates”. The gang has been into the illegal admission business in the Delhi University for the past three years.

The affiliated institutions are under the control of their Governing Bodies (GBs) and have their own admission committees with convener and teachers as members.
