Relay for Life representative Gil Pharand (left) spoke out about this years event on the fight against Cancer to a military audience over a lunch provided by the Wing for a donation.

“Teams from all over the New Baltimore and Anchor Bay area will take to the track at Anchor Bay Middle School North for 24 hours, representing the non-stop vigilance against a foe which never rests”, Petrous said.
She says calling off the event would mean a major loss for the organization, and for cancer patients on Vancouver Island.
We appreciate their contribution along with those of all the participants, all of whom have made the Lowndes Relay the success it is. Caregivers can walk this lap with the person they helped if they are also present.
Dollars raised from Relay help the American Cancer Society fund cancer research, supporting education and risk-reduction efforts, and provide free information and critical services for people with cancer who need them. On May 6, the American Cancer Society will host its annual Relay For Life of Greenwood County.
Columbus is celebrating local cancer survivors and their families – all in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight the disease.
Around 7 p.m., survivors released purple balloons in the air to commemorate their struggle.
The Relay For Life event ignites team spirit among participants and works to raise funds used to save lives and create more birthdays by helping you stay well, helping you get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.
Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide a year ago. You’ll see military groups from Goodfellow AFB, students and faculty from Howard College, ASU and public schools and teams representing nearly every business and civic organization in Tom Green County. Opening ceremonies take place at 7 pm. I’m proud to be a part of Relay for Life of Galt.
Volunteers make the event possible.

Guenther encourages the community to not only come out and support the fundraiser, but to honor and remember those who have faced the illness.
