Ted Cruz Announces Carly Fiorina as Vice President Pick

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump mocked rival Ted Cruz’s announcement Wednesday during a rally at the Indiana State Fairground in Indianapolis that Carly Fiorina would be his running mate, should the Texas senator be the Republican nominee.

ABC NEWS- Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz today announced Carly Fiorina as his vice president pick after “a great deal of consideration and prayer”. “This is a fight for the soul of our party and the future of our nation”, Fiorina said after accepting the Cruz’ offer.Fiorina wasn’t finished talking about GOP front-runner Donald Trump and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

“Her image is stronger among conservatives and tea party activists, which pretty much align with supporters of Ted Cruz, so it seems like a natural complement to his candidacy”, DiCamillo said. “Neither Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump will fight the system, because they are the system”.

“She is careful, she is measured, she is serious”, Cruz said about his prospective new running mate. A spokeswoman for Carly Fiorina has confirmed that the former business executive is among those being considered. And with Fiorina, Cruz has a fighting chance.

Many observers believe his announcement is an attempt to jolt his campaign.

The announcement of a running mate prior to securing the nomination would be an unusual development in a remarkable campaign, to say the least. She went off the rails a few times, such as her description of what was on the Planned Parenthood videos, but she went down fighting.

Cruz added a message to voters: “When John Boehner calls me Lucifer, he’s not directing that at me”.

“I don’t think she’d be itchy about being No. 2 in that relationship”, he said.

Cruz’s campaign began vetting possible seconds-in-command this month, and included Fiorina’s name on his shortlist, according to CNN.

Many US Democrats also criticized the move, jabbing at Cruz’s immigration policy and Fiorina’s record as CEO. “Not because she’s a woman, but Carly did not resonate at all with people”, the property mogul told ABC, saying Ms Fiorina had only had “one good debate”.

“I think it probably started a little too late”, he said.

You know the line on Fiorina here – she failed at HP, she failed in her 2010 bid to beat Barbara Boxer for her Senate seat, she failed again when she tried to run for president this past year.

Cruz’s move comes after a string of primary losses Tuesday to Trump and less than a week before Indiana’s May 3 primary, which has emerged as possibly the Texas senator’s last stand in his fight to keep Trump from winning the nomination outright.
