South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley liked Marco Rubio until he dropped out, then said she preferred John Kasich, but he didn’t have a path to the nomination.
135-a-12-(Governor Mike Pence, R-Ind., in interview on WIBC radio)-“on repealing Obamacare”-Indiana Governor Mike Pence says Cruz will take on the big spenders in Washington”.
Cruz was to appear Wednesday afternoon with Fiorina in Indiana’s capital city, having staked his candidacy on a win in the state’s primary contest next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, famed basketball coach Bobby Knight is carrying the Trump standard across Indiana.
“If we win IN, it’s over”, Trump proclaimed IN Evansville on Thursday.
Trump has beamed with confidence at his IN rallies.
But Trump won’t have a monopoly on such Hoosiers if Cruz can help it, with Fiorina saying in South Bend that Trump is no outsider. Media reported that protesters smashed the window of a police patrol vehicle and blocked traffic. “Nobody will get to Cleveland with 1237 (the number of delegates needed to secure the GOP nomination on the first ballot)”.
Cruz, a conservative USA senator from Texas, has run circles around Trump in wooing convention delegates in the event there is no first-round victor.
“She campaigned in this state very well, she won with these voters”, said Rob Stutzman, a Republican operative helping with efforts to defeat Mr Trump in the primary.
Meanwhile, Cruz’s onetime rival, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, this week repeated his call for Republicans to vote for Cruz.
But “if he doesn’t get to 50 percent, he might have problems garnering the delegates” at the convention, Bush told CNN. Graham had also previously said of the choice between Cruz and Trump: “It’s like being shot or poisoned”.
“I’m not against anyone, but I will be voting for Ted Cruz”, Pence said.
Separately, Donald Trump had to walk into the California GOP convention venue to avoid protesters, some of whom engaged in violence.
But there is a scenario in which Trump no longer even needs Indiana.

Cruz, who urged each attendee to ensure 10 friends vote Tuesday, shook hands and posed for pictures for about 20 minutes after leaving the stage. Marco Rubio. That’s also different based on each state’s rules, and means that at the start of the convention a not-insignificant portion of the available 2,472 delegates will be out of commission for the three remaining candidate.

A new Rasmussen Poll of 1,000 likely voters similarly revealed that Trump and Clinton are tied at 38 percent, but with 24 percent indicating they would consider staying home or going third party if either becomes the nominee.
