Former Speaker Calls Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the Flesh”

Boehner told students at Stanford University in California yesterday that Cruz is “Lucifer in the flesh” – and the “most miserable” person he’s ever worked with.

Boehner said that his working relationship with Cruz was very unpleasant. Boehner added that he will vote for Trump if he becomes the Republican presidential nominee. “Trump, who’s Boehner’s “texting and golfing buddy”, or Carly & me?”, he wrote, referring to Carly Fiorina, his pick for vice-president in an eventual candidacy.

Former House Speaker John Boehner is a retired politician, so he seems to have retired from being politic. Cruz insisted that he has said maybe “50 words to John Boehner” in his entire life and all of them have consisted of pleasantries. When John Boehner calls me Lucifer, he’s not directing that at me.

Boehner is also friendly with Trump. “What Boehner is angry with me for is standing with the American people, is energising and encouraging House conservatives to stand with the American people and actually honour the commitments we have made”, he said. “He and I have never worked together”, he said. According to Politico, Boehner compared Cruz to Lucifer during a conference in April.

The Texas representative is seen by numerous Republicans as the main choice to keep Mr Trump from being the gathering’s competitor.

“I have Democrat companions and Republican companions”.

“I think my proudest accomplishment is walking out of there the same jackass I was 25 years before”, he said.

He reacted to Mr Boehner’s remarks on Twitter, saying: “Tell me again who will stand up to Washington?”

“This cycle has been turned on its head”, GOP strategist and the former Colorado Political Director for the Donald Trump campaign said.

Running mate It is the first time in 40 years that a candidate has picked a running mate before winning the nomination.

There is, of course, no love lost between the man who was once third in line for the presidency and Cruz, who’s widely credited as being responsible for the 16-day government shutdown in 2013.
