By reviewing, validating and recommending translations, Google Translate is being improved on a daily basis. Google Translate was started ten years ago with the aim to make it easier for people around the world to communicate with each other, despite their different lingual backgrounds. “Since then we’ve grown from supporting two languages to 103, and from hundreds of users to hundreds of millions”.

Much of the success of Google Translate can be attributed to the vibrant, multicultural, and – most importantly – multilingual community that contributes to the ever growing database of words and languages.
The service, which translates words, web pages and phrases between English and over hundred other languages, now provides support to 9 of India’s 22 official languages. The most common translations are between English and Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese and Indonesian.
Google supports translations for over 100 languages, which nine official Indian languages – Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. These are Hindi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. While there is always improvements that can be made to Google Translate, the app and service have come quite a long ways in the last decade. And one of the most popular of such useful tech products, Google Translate, is celebrating its tenth birthday today. “A few properly translated sentences can make a huge difference when faced with a foreign language or country”.

In its journey of 10 years, Google Translate has helped people make connections by translation. In that time, we’ve gone from typing in words in a browser to translating entire websites and using phone cameras to read things in the real world. This feature in the Google Translate App lets you instantly see translations in 28 languages. But, be well prepared in advance, as you will have to download the offline language packages when you are in your home country!
