Ted Cruz announces Carly Fiorina as VP pick, Trump sounds off
Ted Cruz has found a way to overshadow Donald Trump – pick Carly Fiorina to be his running mate.

Fiorina, 61, ended her own campaign for the Republican presidential nomination shortly before she began supporting Cruz, seven weeks ago.
The former Hewlett-Packard CEO took quite a few shots at the senator during her campaign, once saying “he says one thing in Manhattan, he says another thing in Iowa, he says whatever he needs to say to get elected” during a CNN interview in January.
Cruz is trying to recapture the narrative and keep himself relevant after Trump seized momentum in the 2016 race with a sweep of all five East Coast states on Tuesday, which puts him closer to having enough delegates to win the Republican nomination.
“While I’m surprised that he would endorse one candidate over the other, given their respective popularity in the state, it certainly makes sense with regard to the brand of conservatism that Mike Pence has stood for over the years”, Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine said.
Asked to respond to Trump’s remarks at a GOP debate days later, Fiorina responded, “I think women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said”.
Fiorina immediately went after Trump and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, embracing the aggressive role of a No. 2 on the White House ticket.
Cruz’s decision to select a running mate without securing the nomination would not be without precedent.
“Donald Trump just figured it out, but wow, this system has been in place for a very long time“, she said, referring to his claims that he should be named the nominee even if he falls slightly short of the required 1,237 delegates needed to win the nomination.
But the risk is that Cruz’s move will be interpreted by voters as a desperate move by a losing campaign. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Friday’s broadcast of Indianapolis, IN’s WIBC’s “Garrison Show”.
The episode marked the first of many times during his campaign that Mr Trump has been accused of misogyny. “I’m grateful for his voice in the national debate”, he said. “I particularly want to commend Donald Trump, who I think has given voice to the frustration of millions of Americans”. She graduated from Stanford University and from MIT, he said.

Nine months later, she suspended that campaign after the New Hampshire primary. After Cruz announced her as his running mate, she said she was “proud, humbled and honored” to accept.
