Relay for Life 2016
According to a report in WTVM by Jose Zozaya, “Columbus is celebrating local cancer survivors and their families – all in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight the disease”. “This year’s theme, “Superheroes Fighting For a Cure” will celebrate our survivors and caregivers and remember the loved ones who lost their battle to this bad disease”. Each year as I watch this parade of survivors who have fought cancer and won, I can’t help but think of them as courageous warriors returning home to celebrate their victory over a deadly enemy. Canadians unite for an event that challenges teams to fundraise and take turns walking or running around a track to meet individual distance goals and show their support for people living with cancer. “Many participants are our loved ones who have faced cancer themselves”. During that time, candles spelling “Hope” will be lit in remembrance.

Natalia Romero, a senior and one of the lead organizers of the event, said that the team has been working since the fall to put everything together.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Lubbock County 2016 will be held Saturday, April 30 at the Rhodes Perrin Recreation Center on the Lubbock Christian University campus.
In its four years this even has raised more than 35-thousand dollars for the American Cancer Society. “That money helps fund research, treatment and in many cases helps pay for associated expenses for cancer patients”.
Relay will open with a thank-you to teams and sponsors and the event will officially start once survivors and caregivers take the first lap. You’ll see military groups from Goodfellow AFB, students and faculty from Howard College, ASU and public schools and teams representing nearly every business and civic organization in Tom Green County. Each time has at least one participant on the track at all times.
Groups from both New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township will host their Relay For Life walks in June.
From 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, customers at Road Runner Sports can enjoy beer, discounts and a free chair massage from Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa.
