Broncos to move on from Hoyer after Lynch pick

And Lynch indeed was the third quarterback off the board after Cal’s Jared Goff went No. 1 to the Los Angeles Rams, followed one pick later by North Dakota’s Carson Wentz to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Broncos are calling it a day in their pursuit of Colin Kaepernick. The question then became what would happen with the rest of the quarterbacks.

While that is only the opinion of one analyst, no one really knows for sure which quarterback is going to have the most successful career. You just want to get picked and go to a team and get to work. Last three quarterbacks taken in the first round by Denver: Tim Tebow, Jay Cutler and Tommy Maddox.

With nothing but smiles and excitement, it was obvious that Lynch is thrilled to be with the world champions. They do have Blaine Gabbert on the roster, and Gabbert started the final eight games of the season past year after Kaepernick was benched.

“I got to bed about 3 [a.m.] thinking about the Lynch thing, got up at 6 [a.m.] and before the morning was over had talked to six people about how I messed it up”, Jones said.

Lynch met the media Friday in Denver where he’s expected to help keep the Broncos on their Rocky Mountain High after winning the Super Bowl last season.

Executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway said the Broncos opened the draft with the intention of selecting University of Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch in the first round. “Paxton was the guy we had targeted”, Elway said. The Denver Broncos traded with the Seattle Seahawks to move up from No. 31 to No. 26.

I tend to disagree with that sentiment in this case as Gary Kubiak’s system is designed for a quarterback to make one or two reads, so it is a system that a young quarterback could learn fairly quickly. Lynch also is sure to fit in the offensive scheme due to the offense he played in at Memphis. I wouldn’t say we’re out, but I wouldn’t say we’re all in either. “Losing Brock … at the end I thought Houston was probably going to get him no matter what”.

While Lynch’s mom and dad must certainly be proud and excited, the millions of fans that make up Broncos Country will all have their eyes on Lynch for years to come – hopefully.
