Ice Cube Says Dr. Dre Dropping New Album

As previously reported, Dr. Dre has recorded an original soundtrack for the forthcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. The album, which Cube says was inspired by his new film Straight Outta Compton, will be available 13 days before the August 14 theatrical release of the film. Sources in the US, however, are saying that it won’t be with us quite that quickly.

Is Dr. Dre’s much-vaunted third album “Detox” going to be released this weekend?

“It’s mega”, said Ice Cube. The album is set to feature Dre’s one-time protégé Eminem, as well as Kendrick Lamar and other unconfirmed members of NWA and was “inspired by the movie”, according to the rapper.

Dre already hinted at the album back in March. And he’s dropping it all on the same day.

Dr. Dre’s previous album, “2001”, was released in 1999.

Multitudes of fans are bound to be disappointed, however, as this may essentially spell the end to the Detox album that a plethora of people have spent a decade of their lives waiting for.

Additionally, the interview has Ice Cube weighing in on rumours that an N.W.A. reunion tour is in the works, to which he replied, “there’s a possibility for sure”. It hits theaters August 14th. “It’s definitely, definitely possible”, he replied. He talks about the soundtrack around the 10 minute mark.
