FLORHAM PARK, N.J. The New York Jets addressed their need for speed with a versatile, athletic playmaker.

In an attempt to strengthen an already unappealing quarterback situation, the New York Jets shocked the draft when they selected Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan reiterated last week that Fitzpatrick remains the team’s priority, adding that “it may take some time” before it’s resolved.

Lee is still learning the linebacker position after only playing it for two seasons at Ohio St, but he did do very well for the Buckeyes.

“I would say, simply, to dispel anything, we’re not at this point in time in discussions with any other teams for any other quarterbacks”, Maccagnan said. He also played behind a awful offensive line and in a new system previous year.

Burris will likely compete for a backup spot behind projected starters Darrelle Revis and Buster Skrine, and also play on special teams. Bowles said. “We got a guy that can play three downs”. “He runs sideline to sideline”.

Potential: Lee has a chance to be a great linebacker in the Jets scheme.

“So I would sort of table that to a later date,” Maccagnan said.

For the seventh straight year, the Jets took a defensive player with their first pick.

The storyline about his size has since shifted from a hindrance to a benefit for the 6’1, 232-pound player.

“We’ll see where he’s at, ” the GM said. “You need a bunch of faster guys”. “We had a couple other guys who are now in the National Football League that went inside”.

Candice asked Darron, who grew up in Chattanooga, Tenn., but went to high school in New Albany, Ohio, where he hoped to land in the first round.

Lee’s career stats: After redshirting in 2013, Lee was a second-team Associated Press All-American on Ohio State’s national championship team in 2014. Don’t fret, though, Jets fans, because apparently, that’s not the case.

Last year, the Jets traded for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in March, and had a career year, throwing for 31 touchdowns-a franchise record. The Jets would like to bring him back, but Fitzpatrick reportedly doesn’t want to accept what he perceives to be a low-ball offer.

The situation with defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson is why it’s hard to not side with players seeking extensions to their contract.
