Around 10,000 people are staying in their cars at an exhibition hall parking lot in the town of Mashiki, but emergency supplies have not been delivered as the facility is not registered as a shelter, Fuji television said.

Tilt-rotor Osprey aircraft were among those taking part in relief efforts, the US Marines said.
The domestic business community is trying to assess only any impact of the earthquakes on Japanese manufacturers’ exports since few South Korean manufacturing companies have entered the Japanese market, the source added.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Monday he wanted to officially designate the southern region a disaster area in a move that would allow the government to spend more on reconstruction. She didn’t have a breakdown, but Japanese media reported that eight were in Minamiaso village. Rescue works are still underway to look for the three missing people.
Yachiyo Fuchigami, 64, was among those keeping a wary eye on puffs of smoke rising from nearby 1,592-meter (5,223-foot) Mount Aso, Japan’s largest active volcano. More than 200 homes and other buildings were either destroyed or damaged.
Compared to the quake that struck near Mashiki on Thursday, the latest one and its subsequent aftershocks appeared to be moving eastward, causing the damage to spread to Kyushu’s northeast region.
The second quake triggered major landslides in Minamiaso.
The weather agency also warned that heavy rainfall of between 40 and 50 millimeters per hour is to hit Kumamoto and Oita on Thursday and the torrential rain may escalate risk of landslides in the quake-affected area and make rescue work more hard.
On Saturday, there were around 90,000 people.
Many residents were still recovering from the shock of the destruction, while struggling to bring their lives, and spirit, together. Thousands of homes are still without electricity, water, or gas, and rail services remain disrupted.
“We are deeply sorry for the earthquakes in Japan”, an industry source said.
His house survived, despite major roof damage, but like many, the family is sleeping in their cars outside. “It’s a hassle, but it’s too scary to be alone”, he said.
The dispatch would be the first time that the Ospreys, which can take off like a helicopter and cruise like a plane, have been used in a disaster relief mission in the country.
