Foxes’ fans must wait to see if Leicester clinch Premier League title

The Foxes would have won the title with a win at Old Trafford, but went behind when Anthony Martial converted Antonio Valencia’s cross.

Leicester City fans face a nail-biting wait to see if the side pulls off one of the greatest comebacks in English football history and lifts the Premier League trophy.

Ranieri, however, will be flying back from Italy, where he said he is due to meet his 96-year-old mother for lunch, and he is not sure if his players will be huddled around a television either. He will return on Monday, during the Chelsea-Spurs match.

United’s failure to win kept the team fifth and dented its ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League. “(They) are very sacred, the talismans will bring victory to the team”.

It would be the most implausible top-flight title triumph since Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest won in 1978. “I’ve been a lifelong Leicester fan and been through ups and downs and this is everything”.

To illustrate his point, the Dutchman grabbed a handful of a television reporter’s hair and in a subsequent interview he said that hair-pulling could only be permitted during what he termed “sex masochism”. “It’s just been fantastic this season, fantastic players, fantastic manager and fantastic supporters”.

But even though Ranieri was sacked by Chelsea in 2004, becoming the first managerial casualty of Russian owner Roman Abramovich’s tenure, he is hoping that his former employers do Leicester’s job for them.

“We shall not be moved”, cried the Leicester fans, who were in full voice throughout.

However Leicester are still waiting to hear if there will be any punishments handed out for the clash between Robert Huth and Marouane Fellaini.

He said: “Leicester played all the way, 100%”.

Fellaini could get a retrospective ban, which may rule him out for the rest of the season. But De Gea wasn’t seriously tested aside from long-range efforts and United came closest to scoring when Chris Smalling glanced a header against the post. Drinkwater will miss the home match against Everton. He might own a Premier League winner’s medal by then.
