The Cinco de Mayo celebration is hosted by the chamber’s Hispanic Business Committee and will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Legacy Ford located at 27225 Southwest Freeway in Rosenberg. On May 9, 1862, President Juárez declared the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla to be a national holiday called “Battle of Puebla Day” or “Battle of Cinco de Mayo”.
You don’t even need to leave your house to experience the energy and liveliness of Cinco de Mayo.
Mexico had just 4,000 soldiers, compared to France’s 8,000, according to historical documents. That actually falls on September 16.
But encouraged by their victory, the people of Mexico continued fighting and six years later they were finally able to defeat the French forces.
When celebrating Cinco de Mayo, nothing’s better than fan fave snacks – and when it comes to delicious salsas and guac, A Beautiful Mess has you covered.
■ The Woodland Mall on North Main Street in Bowling Green is the site of the 23rd annual Cinco de Mayo celebration starting at 1 p.m. today.
