Why people are saying Indiana could win Trump the nomination
Trump, the only Republican with a chance of locking down the delegates needed to win the nomination without a contested convention, says he has “a great relationship” with the people of IN and expects to do well IN Tuesday’s primary. The two states have the largest number of delegates in the remaining 10 contests.

“I’m going to get up and speak to (the state party’s slate) actually”, Cuccinelli, the state’s former attorney general, told CNN.
State party chairman Jim Brulte said Fiorina was the first presidential candidate to respond to his invitation to appear at the state party convention that he issued to the entire presidential field in January, when she was still a contender for the top office. In an office nearby, a dozen Cruz volunteers staffed a phone bank. His decisive primary wins in New York, Pennsylvania and other states over the past two weeks have increased the possibility that he could clinch the nomination ahead of the convention. “I’m proud to stand with him”. Cruz is 400 delegates behind the apricot demagogue who leads the Republican race, and he now needs to get more delegates than there are delegates available to win the nomination on the first ballot in Cleveland.
“It is going to be a battle on the ground, district by district, by district”, he said. He said Trump supporters could have added Brewer’s name to their delegate ballots, if they replaced another name from the pre-selected Trump slate.
Cruz’s campaign began airing a TV ad in IN calling Trump and Clinton “two sides of the same coin” due to their similar positions on the Obama administration’s nuclear deal with Iran, taxes, and some other policies.
Cruz, speaking with anchor Sean Hannity, did not say definitively whether he would drop out if he loses IN on Tuesday, but described the “heartland” state as critical.
An aggregate of recent polls in IN show a neck-and-neck race, with Mr Trump leading Mr Cruz by two per cent according to Real Clear Politics. John Kasich is effectively making IN ahead now a head-to-head match up. All three candidates spoke at the state party convention, a detour from campaigning in Indiana.
What’s behind Cruz’s selection of Carly Fiorina? “She’s the flawless surrogate for Cruz”.
“When mom’s in Nebraska, their eating goes a little downscale”, Cruz said, pausing to tuck a napkin in Catherine’s shirt. Instead, Cruz won his home state of Texas, along with Oklahoma and Alaska, but lost to Trump in Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.
Republican Party officials rejected the accusation of foul play, saying that supporters for Mr Cruz and John Kasich, a trailing presidential rival, had simply combined to form a legitimate majority against Mr Trump.

At a rally in Terre Haute, Indiana, Trump urged Republicans to join his “movement” and turn out for him in big numbers. In fact, you know what I would’ve done, I would’ve told the folks over there, go over and punch those guys in the face. But he hopes a strong showing in the Hoosier State on Tuesday could help block Trump’s ability to gain the necessary delegates and force the party into a contested convention. “And it was the weakest endorsement anyone has seen in a long time”, Trump said of Pence’s endorsement of Cruz.
