Knicks Legend Patrick Ewing Finally Gets Coaching Interview
With Blatt interviewing and/or garnering consideration for other head coaching vacancies, it should be a clear-cut sign that an offer to be Kurt Rambis’ top assistant in NY isn’t going to cut it.

Ex-Maccabi Tel Aviv and Cleveland Cavaliers basketball coach David Blatt will continue his search for employment in the NBA in an interview with the Sacramento Kings in the next few days, ESPN cited league sources as saying.
Ewing has helped to develop several top centers, including Yao Ming (Houston), Dwight Howard (Orlando) and Al Jefferson (Charlotte).
As pointed out recently by the Sacramento Bee, none of the team’s previous five head coaches, including the just-fired George Karl, has lasted two complete seasons with Cousins. Ewing, a Hall of Fame center, has the unique blend of his own physical and playing stature to go with a strong coaching pedigree as part of staffs with Clifford, Stan Van Gundy and Jeff Van Gundy.
The Knicks have their respective question marks with regard to the future, but there are plenty of factors that make the team’s head coaching vacancy a desirable one. According to the Vertical, this is his third interview – he talked to Charlotte and Detroit in 2011.
Based on the numbers, Blatt is definitely qualified for an interview with the Kings (but who isn’t?).
Ewing is an assistant with the Hornets under Steve Clifford and also has had assistant-coaching gigs with the Magic, Rockets and Wizards.
Among those who have already taken a seat in the interview room are former Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro and former New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Woodson.
Blatt guided the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals a year ago before being surprisingly sacked in January with the Cavs leading the East at 30-11.

The Hornets’ success this season might have helped Ewing’s chances.
