Prince’s jacket from the ‘Purple Rain’ movie is now being auctioned

EVESHAM’s Regal Cinema is hosting two special screenings of Purple Rain in memory of music icon Prince whose sudden death last week devastated fans worldwide. Over on the Official Singles Chart Update, six of Prince’s classic hits are on course to re-enter the Top 40, led by his signature hit Purple Rain, which is now at Number 2 behind Drake’s One Dance.

The seller of the blazer said that her sister, a makeup artist, worked with Prince in Purple Rain.

Officials from the company had estimated the jacket would sell for between $6,000 and $8,000, but that was before Prince’s death, which drew an outpouring of tributes for the seven-time Grammy-winner from President Barack Obama, Hollywood figures and fans worldwide.

The V-neck jacket, which is black with white cross-hatching and has leather sleeves from the elbows down, will be presented for sale in Profiles in History’s auction between June 29 and July 1 in Calabasas, California. “Prince memorabilia in general, it just really doesn’t exist”, Maddalena says. “It seems like he controlled it all”.

Prince performs during the “Pepsi Halftime Show” at Super Bowl XLI between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears in 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. But Lemonade overtook The Very Best Of Prince (Warner Bros.) with opening sales of 73,000, including 10,000 equivalent sales via streaming – 14 percent of its total. After all, when David Bowie died earlier this year, people bought his albums like insane, and unlike Prince, Bowie’s music was readily available all over the internet.Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park, in Minnesota, on April 21, and was declared dead at the age of 57.

Prince also co-directed the concert documentary “Sign o’ the Times” (1987).
