“California is going to decide this Republican primary”, he told the crowd of delegates and party activists at the state GOP convention in Burlingame.

On Tuesday, Trump maintained his commanding lead on Cruz and Kasich, gaining victory in the five states with Pennsylvania at 58 percent, CT at 65 percent, Maryland at 61 percent, DE at 60 percent and Rhode Island at 66 percent.
Trump said this week that he had met the governor and asked for his backing.
“Y’all are experiencing firsthand the consequences of those misguided liberal policies”, Cruz said.
Cruz spoke to the convention Saturday afternoon and highlighted his running mate, saying she’d be the first Californian on a national ticket since Reagan, although she lives in Virginia, home to many national political aspirants.
“Americans are asking that IN bring common sense and good judgment to save this country from the path that we are barreling down”, said Cruz.
California’s primary is June 7, a date once seen as too late to influence the selection process.
But if they’re itching to engage in full measure, they still have party rivals to dispatch, and Trump’s next challenge is to beat back Sen.
Missouri Democrats on Thursday selected 47 delegates for the party’s convention in Philadelphia July 25-28 in Philadelphia.
Trump swept five northeastern states on April 26 and gained more than 10 million votes from primary and caucus voters so far, to Cruz’s 6.9 million.
At a news conference in Washington, Sanders appealed to hundreds of so-called superdelegates in a bid to snatch the nomination. That could make Texas the largest potential delegate prize up for grabs should multiple convention votes become necessary.
“They just completely got out of control”, he said.
Trump also returned to questioning the Canadian-born Cruz’s eligibility to serve as president, drawing on comments the Texan’s wife made during a campaign stop Saturday when she referred to her husband as an “immigrant”. Trump now has 996 delegates, Cruz has 565 and Kasich has 153, according to the AP’s delegate count.
Senator Ted Cruz is scheduled to speak at Saturday’s luncheon and Carly Fiorina, Cruz’s vice-presidential nominee if he’s elected, is scheduled to speak at Saturday’s dinner banquet. His opponents have been stacking delegates with ones who will turn against Trump after the first vote, when delegates are bound to the candidate who won their state or district.

Trump on Sunday also targeted Cruz, dismissing his closest Republican rival’s criticism of Trump’s endorsement by former boxing champion Mike Tyson, whom Cruz called a rapist. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll released earlier Sunday found Trump leading Cruz, 49 percent to 34 percent.
