Volkswagen Amarok gets facelift, V6 engine
AFTER A SKETCH WAS released last week, VW has revealed a handful of images showing the refreshed 2017 Volkswagen Amarok.

The German automaker’s commercial unit has chose to add some elegance to the Amarok while also beefing up its credentials, introducing to the series a turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 engine. Top-end versions of the engine produce 406lb ft of torque.
The new V6 Amarok has a fulsome 406lb ft of torque. For the latter, buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive with an engageable front axle (manual gearbox), or with a permanent all-wheel drive system and a Torsen differential (eight-speed auto).
Only minor changes have been made to the Amarok’s exterior styling, with a new grille, headlights and bumper up front and new taillights at the back, but the interior has been given a far more comprehensive makeover, with a completely redesigned dashboard and new seats. On the range-topping model, there’s also 17-inch brake discs at the front and 16-inch discs at the rear, as well as a post-collision braking system to stop you cannoning into the traffic in front after a rear-ender. The design chapter has been lightly touched – there’s a new body-colored sports bar for the Amarok Aventura, the new launch version for Europe. With a length of 5.25 metres and a width of 2.23 metres (mirrors included), the Amarok delivers everything one would expect from a classic pick-up. The ability to accommodate a Euro-pallet by loading it sideways into the bed is another strong point of the German pickup truck.

With this gearbox, VW claims a combined fuel consumption of 7.6 liters/100 km (an equivalent of 31 not EPA-rated mpg), while the most powerful Amarok V6’s maximum towing capacity is rated at 3.5 tonnes (3.92 United States tons). The Amarok Aventura features 20-inch alloy wheels and the Park Distance Control parking assistant, which utilises a rear-view camera.
