Four weeks ago if a box office analyst had predicted that The Jungle Book would do double the business of Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan, you would have perhaps laughed him of and be dismissed him of his views that quite honestly threw freakish notions. It also crossed the $250 million mark today, its 17th day, which is incredibly speedy for a film not released in summer or at Christmas (it tied Iron Man 2).

Keanu, a well-reviewed comedy starring Jordan Peele and Keegan- Michael Key, a pair who have been a phenomenon on television, but have never before appeared in a movie together, failed to break out.

The Jungle Book with a dreamlike run all over the world has proved that content is the ultimately king and no star power can eventually take a film up to such heights. After an opening weekend that basically exceeded expectations and a second weekend in which it trounced The Huntsman: Winter’s War, it should come as no real surprise to hear that in weekend number three, the movie was able to actually beat out three newly released movies.

There was no doubt that Civil War would do well at the box office, but not even Walt Disney Studios may have expected this strong overseas opening. Final domestic figures will be released Monday. 1.

In fact, the adult audience had more than enough to choose from this weekend, from last week’s newcomer flop “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” to “Mother’s Day”. “Keanu”, $9.4 million; 4. “Zootopia”, $5 million; 7. “The Boss, ” $4.2 million.9.

The video-game adaption ‘Ratchet & Clank, ‘ from Focus Features, made even less of a dent with an estimated $4.8 million.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Criminal were also down three places as they finished the weekend at nine and ten. “Criminal, ” $1.3 million.———Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at worldwide theaters (excluding the USA and Canada), according to comScore:1.

While it doesn’t open domestically until May 6, Captain America: Civil War debuted in 37 global markets this weekend, posting an impressive $200.2 million in its worldwide debut.
