Metro Bus Hijacked Reportedly By Juveniles

The hijacking happened in the 4200 block of Minnesota Avenue Tuesday morning around 10:45 a.m., Metropolitan police said.

One of the juveniles is in custody but authorities have not said if anyone else was arrested.

The suspect was armed but police did not give details on the weapon.

Three teens stabbed a Washington, D.C. bus driver with a screwdriver, hijacked the bus and struck a pedestrian, critically injuring them, according to police and local reports. The bus driver had non life-threatening injuries and there were no injuries to passengers, according to Metro Transit Police.

The driver of the bus is expected to survive his injury.

Lanier says the man who stole the bus appeared distraught as officers took him into custody.

“It’s a freaky incident”, Lanier said. She said it was “very uncharacteristic for someone to take a bus and attack a bus driver”.
