Logged On: Windows 10 is here, correcting mistakes and adding features
“We designed Windows 10 to work great just with mouse and keyboard”, said Joe Belfiore, who is in charge of Windows as Microsoft’s corporate vice president of the Operating Systems Group. In recent years, most consumers have waited until they bought a new computer to get the latest Windows.

When you upgrade to Windows 10 from a system running Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you’ll be presented with three options.
By offering free upgrades, Microsoft aims to put the system on as many devices as possible.
Early reaction has so far been positive, though some users have take to social media to express frustration at the time taken to install the update.
Users of genuine versions of Windows 7 or 8.1 for PCs or tablets, who have registered for upgrades, started receiving their free upgrade installations on Wednesday.
“I’m still hopeful that the PC industry will see some decent upside from Windows 10, particularly in the fourth quarter of this year and into 2016″, he said.
As with all operating systems, it’s entirely likely that some users will encounter bugs with Windows 10 when it’s first installed. Additionally, using Microsoft Passport and Windows Hello, users can log into Windows 10 devices or business apps without using a password.
Question: Why is Microsoft giving Windows 10 for free? You’ll nearly certainly want to upgrade your computers to it, especially since it’s free”, and that “if you’re a PC veteran, then you’ll recognize Windows 10: “It’s pretty much Windows 7, with Cortana, nicer typography, and a few new features”. Since this is an unsupported method, however, and some are reporting issues with the method, if you’re not in a hurry to get Windows 10, remember that patience is a virtue.
“Microsoft is hoping that having a single platform will encourage developers to create more apps for its mobile phones, something that it’s struggled immensely with compared with Android and iOS”. Windows 10 Tablets come pre-loaded with OneNote for quick note taking.
The Cortana virtual assistant – Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s Siri and Google Now – will also be integrated. As in old times, it can be opened with the click of a mouse or by pressing the Windows shortcut on a keyboard.
The company is counting on tens or even hundreds of millions of people to download its latest release in the coming months.
Additionally, you may need to reinstall drivers or upgrade existing drivers for compatibility.
Also, most of the Windows 10 sales will be to businesses, which traditionally stall the longest before upgrading, says Bajarin.
Acknowledging and admitting mistakes is one of the hardest things to do in the tech industry, but Microsoft is good at both.
