‘Catfish’ participant Ashley Sawyer dies at 23

Catfish’s Max Joseph has paid tribute to Ashley Sawyer after she passed away aged 23. The Georgia native was 23 years old; her cause of death is unknown.

Ashley appeared on the second season of the MTV docu-series, and met up with her digital boyfriend, Michael Fortunato, in the episode. Both used altered photographs while talking to each other online but were able to forge a real relationship after the show finished filming.

Sharing a touching picture, he wrote: “Shocked and saddened by the death of Ashely Sawyer”.

Sawyer’s sister Jessica Ross told MTV that she had a great relationship with her late sister. “So sweet and kind”.

One month after the episode first aired, Fortunato died of a pulmonary embolism at age 26.

However, they met up on the programme and discovered that the feelings were still there.

Ashley had most recently appeared on a Catfish catch-up show where she revealed that she had been living in a sober facility and struggling with her drug addiction.

According to MTV, she had since completed the program. gotten a job. and started living in her own apartment in Alabama. “Thoughts and prayers go out to her family”, alongside a photo of the two embracing each other on the show. She could make me laugh on my absolute worst day. “She was just a really fun person to be around”.
