Cruz to tap Carly Fiorina as running mate

She failed to catch on with most voters, however, and dropped out of the race after poor showing in New Hampshire.

If Cruz does tap Fiorina, will it help his campaign as it faces the next slate of primaries, including IN, which is sizing up to be critical for both Cruz and Trump.

The announcement of a running mate at this point in the campaign is unusually early. “The people of IN are very smart – they will see through this just like they saw through the already failed Kasich alliance”, Trump said.

He doesn’t have the Republican nomination. The delegates will select not only the Republican nominee, but the running mate too.

Mr Trump described his rival’s selection of Ms Fiorina as “ridiculous” and “dumb” before it was announced. “I’m not getting to 1237 and Donald J. Trump is not getting to 1237 delegations”, Cruz said.

If Cruz can win a large share of the Midwestern state’s 57 delegates, it will boost the chances that Trump will not be able to clinch the nomination on the convention’s first ballot. “Well guess what? It ain’t over until the voters of this nation, and in particular the voters of this state, say it’s over”.

Though the invincibility of a Trump nomination continues to build, Bush seemed confident it is still possible to block the billionaire businessman from becoming the GOP nominee.

The 61-year-old has also been highly critical of Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton, particularly in regard to comments from Clinton surrogates who have indicated all women should vote for the former secretary of state.

“Look at that face!” Would anyone vote for that? “Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!”.

“Picking a candidate that is talented, tough – she takes on Trump really well, I think, and she takes on Hillary Clinton very well, as well”, Bush said. And Wednesday’s announcement underscores the importance of Indiana’s May 3 primary. She has never held elected office.

Throughout her presidential bid, Fiorina emphasized her meteoric rise in the business world. “He’s losing and this is sort of a desperate move”. Then she revealed her softer side when she broke out into song before a festive IN crowd.

The Cruz campaign began teasing it with announcements about a coming announcement.
