Media outlets report that Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said that an officer was doing paperwork in his patrol auto Sunday when he noticed a man pointing a gun at him.

“The fact that someone would approach a uniform police officer sitting in his marked patrol auto on a Sunday morning and raised a firearm at him and the fact that the firearm, now we known wasn’t loaded, indicates to us that it was a suicide by cop”, said police commissioner Davis.
On Wednesday, police said, an officer shot and wounded a 13-year-old boy who refused to drop a BB gun so realistic that a reporter at a news conference had a hard time distinguishing the replica from a semi-automatic handgun set beside it.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith said Monday that it appears the officers in each case acted in accordance with their training to neutralize potential threats. Police are still trying to identify him, as he carried no identification documents with him.
Police said Brizzi was wearing a vest filled with candy bars to give it the appearance of having some sort of explosives like C-4.
This shooting is the third in five days involving police officers from Baltimore. Police said officers shot and killed a father and son they said were poised to open fire on an East Baltimore street in broad daylight. Both man and boy were hospitalized, but are in stable conditions.

“I’m just in shock that someone would have a gun and do that, and early on a Sunday morning”, said City Councilwoman Sharon Green Middleton, who represents the Park Heights community where the shooting occurred.
