With qualified game developers having the opportunity to self-publish their titles on Xbox One and Windows 10, we’ve seen games ranging from pretty poor and good for nothing but easy gamerscore to titles that offer massive amounts of replayability and rival the quality of a triple A title.

The first wave of free Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles as part of Xbox Live’s Games With Gold promotion are now live. You’ll be able to watch everything on the Xbox Twitch channel from 12 p.m.to 4 p.m. PT / 3 p.m.to 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 14, from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. PT / 1 p.m.to 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 15, and from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. PT / 1 p.m.to 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 16. The one-hour show will be hosted by Larry Hryb, Xbox Live’s Major Nelson, and Graeme Boyd, Xbox Live’s Acey Bongos, and will include a variety of guest stars and prominent industry figures.
ID@Xbox Game Fest officially kicks off on May 3 starting with a week of discovering new games you’ve never played before. It can be streamed live on Xbox One, on Xbox.com (both on your desktop and on mobile), on Xbox 360, and on the Xbox Twitch channel. Microsoft’s Xbox website proclaims that Grid is available to be downloaded until May 15. In “Grid 2” players will be able to experience jaw-dropping scenary and massively incredible damage in the racing title.

The open-world game (think Runescape or Terraria) Sunset Overdrive is also free this month.

Looking something like the lovechild of Halo and Transformers, Defense Grid 2 has you using lasers and futuristic towers to take on a bunch of bug-like robots that walk around on metallic “legs”. Aside from the Games with Gold aspect from the membership users will also get multiplayer gaming, exclusive deals and discounts and more. If you’re an action and/or explosion addict, Defense Grid 2 is your kind of game.
